Notes from SLAIG Teleconference 10/29/2005
- Gift
for Margee in appreciation of her service on the SLAIG Board- Pete
researched some options for PSU-related gifts. Sue looked at his list and narrowed it
down to a couple of suggestions to Board.
She suggested either a xmas ornament (~$20) or Nittany Lion Head
Bookends (~$27). The Board agreed
on $25-$30 to spend. Sue will speak
with Marty (Marg’s husband!) and email the Board with a final suggestion.
- Finances
(Keith): Our SLAIG money came in
from the PSAA. Our balance is now
what Keith had predicted in his previous finance report minus $15.
- Two
Board positions to be open in the spring.
Ideas for replacements on the Board included Chad Elder, Allison
Naughton and Erin Markovich. Tim to
contact these people and also entertain others interested. Suggestion made to have a table at the
Anniversary event for committee sign-up, etc.
- Use of
database for mass emails (like the one sent by SL Zack regarding spring
tour). This prompts us to develop a
policy re: use of info from database.
Board members suggested that in the future, individuals outside of
the Board need to go through a committee (e.g. connections committee)
before use is approved. Tim to
draft a proposal.
- Anniversary:
- Lion
mascot- Jill to check into availability of the Lion to show up for ~15
minutes during evening event.
- Cabaret-
Tim has a line-up of about 15 performances already. Very solid band also in place!
- Pictures-
Suggestion made to ask a couple of people to purposely photograph key
moments during the event to include in future newsletter, website,
etc. Sue to contact Gene Maylock
to ask if he is willing to do this.
Still need someone to videotape.
- Payment
for event
i.
Tim to contact Nittany Lion Inn on their policy
regarding payment for young children (e.g. N/C for under 3?) or reduced prices
for other age groups.
ii.
After acquiring info from Tim, Keith and Jeff to work
out setting up payment option online for Anniversary event. This will include the payment options from
Tim’s info regarding kids, as well as disclaimer that no childcare will be
provided, and that it will be a “kid-friendly” event.
- Bio’s
on past members: Jill, Keith and
Sue to write bio’s on Elizabeth Mongan, Denean Williams, and the
McPherson’s (Hugh and Janine) respectively for use in newsletter.
- Newsletter-
Ready for distribution ~ January 2006.
Keith to contact current group for their insert for newsletter with
a deadline of Friday, December 2 for submission.
